A public lecture on

Culture and Identity: How They Influence Governance

by the leading anthropologist of Islam and the Middle East — Prof. Dr. Dale F. Eickelman (Dartmouth College, USA; Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin)

in the framework of an international workshop will officially launch the new international project Religion and the Public Sphere: Interdisciplinary Approaches carried out by a team at Sofia University’s Centre for the Study of Religions (Project Leader: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simeon Evstatiev from the Department of Arabic and Semitic Studies) with the financial support of the National Science Fund at the Bulgarian Ministry of Education, Youth and Science.

The public event will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 18:00 to 19:30 p.m. in Hall 1 at the Rectorate of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, 15 Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd.
