International Ph.D. Course “Computational Engineering”
under the patronage of DAAD, Germany within Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe
9-14 June, 2007
Background: The International Ph.D. Course “Computational Engineering” is natural continuation of all activities in the framework of an existing DAAD project within the program “Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe” between:
• University of Siegen, Germany
• Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria
• University of Nis, Serbia
The Course will be organized from 9 June (arrival date) to 14 June (departure date) 2007 in Pamporovo, Bulgaria.
Eligibility: Eligible for participation are Ph.D. students and exception, early stage researchers, involved in the research activities of their universities (early stage is a researcher, who obtained M.Sc. degree within the last 4 years). 20 participants all together will be selected from the countries of South-Eastern Europe.
Course Program: The Course will include educational part and open seminar sessions. Within the educational part the participants will follow lectures in the field of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) basics and applications. The lectures will be given by professors and researchers from Germany, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Serbia. The open seminar sessions will enable the participants to present research results, research concepts or even chapters from their Ph.D. theses and to have discussions with their more experienced colleagues. This possibility, together with the educational part will improve and speed up the research activities of the young scientists and will be an essential background for reaching higher quality in their studies.
How to apply: The applicants have to be ready to make 10 min. presentations within the Open seminar sessions. Afterwards they will have free discussion (about 10 min.) with the rest of the audience. In addition they have to prepare an extended abstract (up to 2 pages) for the course proceedings, which will be published in a separate issue. Cost of participation: Participation is free. Both travel expenses and residence cost, including food expenses, are covered by the project.
